Sample Letter Women and Violence

Domestic Violence Letter Template Dear Editor,

My name is ___________, and I am writing to you because there is an American who inspires me to believe in the safe and successful future of women and children in this country. This February we are given the power to cast our votes for the next Democratic candidate for President, and through V-Day, we honor the global movement to stop violence against women and girls. Before casting our votes this primary season, it is important to consider how the candidates stand up on domestic violence.

Governor Dean does more than speak out against domestic violence; he has acted to make a difference in victims’ lives. In Vermont, he signed the Abuse Prevention and Child Support law requiring abusers to pay child support and living expenses to spouses who require protection. While Governor he also created a Domestic Violence Fatality Review Commission to better serve the Vermont community in responding to and preventing domestic violence. In 2002, Governor Dean was presented with the Healthy Families Visionary Leadership Award by Prevent Child Abuse America.

Howard Dean appeals to me because…

Governor Dean’s record speaks for itself and I believe we can trust him with our future. Howard Dean has pledged to fund the Violence Against Women Act, promote community education, and speak out against the cycle of violence here in America and throughout the world.

I urge you to vote for Governor Howard Dean for President. He has my vote.

Sincerely,
